Jug Bridge
Jug Bridge Demijohn, Frederick Maryland, originally uploaded by Mr. T in DC.
In 1808, a bridge was constructed over the Monocacy River near Frederick, Maryland for the National Road. It was known as the Jug Bridge because of the jug-shaped decorative sculpture at one end. When the bridge was replaced in the 1940s, the jug was preserved as a memorial to the historic old bridge.
